New Release - JIWA 6.04.11 : 17 April 2004
JIWA has released its much awaited JIWA 6.04.11 version. This is the first release
since JIWA 6.04.09 back in January 2004.
JIWA 6.04.11 contains a range of new functionality that with not only benefit
new users of JIWA, but also JIWA’s large base of current users.
Current JIWA users may log into the JIWA website to get the full details of all
the new features. A summary of some of the more notable new features are:
1) JIWA Cubes
JIWA now offers users the ability to use Microsoft Excel Pivot Tables to analyse
data within JIWA without being constrained by Microsoft Excel’s slow processing
speed, especially on large amounts of data, and without being constrained by the
data capacity limitation of Microsoft Excel. This facility is very powerful and
extremely easy to use, especially for ad hoc reporting.
JIWA 6.04.11 contains 4 default “Cubes”/Pivot Tables that allow JIWA
users to quickly and easily drag-and-drop relevant parameters to get the information
they need. These are:
- Debtor Balances - reporting of customer outstanding balances: by debtor, by debtor classification, by transaction type, by range of due date time periods.
- General Ledger – reporting of general ledger accounts: by account segment, by range of time periods. This facilitates easy roll up of consolidated accounts.
- Sales – reporting of sales: by debtor, by debtor classification, by inventory item, by inventory classification / category, by branch/warehouse, by profit / cost / GP / ex.GST / inc.GST, by a range of time periods.
- Stock on Hand – reporting of stock ageing: by warehouse, by inventory item, by inventory classification / category, by cost / quantity left.
These Cubes can be extended or new Cubes can be created very quickly. Most
importantly, cubes are shippable. That is, a cube may be designed by a JIWA Solution
Provider (JSP) specifically for a JIWA user, and the JSP may email the cube to
the JIWA user for use.
2) Help
JIWA 6.04.11 contains the first release of JIWA’s new online Help system.
This new Help is fully searchable and the Help files of many areas of JIWA have
been updated to coincide with the release of the new Help system. All training
materials and technical references are also available within the new online help.
3) Notes, Reminders and Documents
Notes & Reminders have been significantly enhanced including the addition
of “Notes Type” and the ability to drill down to source transactions
when a JIWA reminder is activated. These enhancements have been added to Inventory
Maintenance, Bill of Materials Maintenance, Bill of Materials Requisitions, Sales
Order Entry, Quotes, Purchase Orders, Job Costing, and Returns Authorisation.
Furthermore, the ability to classify and store relevant external documents has
been added to many more areas within the JIWA system.
4) Forward Cover Management
JIWA users can now set up all forward contracts in their JIWA system and decide
which supplier invoices are to be drawn down against which contracts. This enables
the forward cover exchange to be used in costing stock in automatically from the
contract.
5) Information Pop-Ups on Sales Order Entry
JIWA users are now able to “tick” whether they want to view a “pop-up”
box of:
- a product’s sales history, and/or
- relevant customer sales history.
These information pop-ups can be tailored to display only the information required
by each JIWA user. Furthermore, these pop-up can be set only to display when certain
criteria are fulfilled.
6) Bill of Materials & Service Management
Huge enhancements, too comprehensive to document here, have been made to Manufacturing
(Bill of Materials) and Service Management. In general terms, these relate to
the further integration of these modules with the standard inventory functions
of JIWA Financials. Please contact us for more details
if you are interested.
